2000 TREES FESTIVAL

The 2000 Trees Festival is not just any old weekend event. On the 17th and 18th July in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, 2,500 people can watch over 50 bands at a festival concerned with being green and ethical.

It will be the third year running that Cheltenham has hosted the weekend of live music, and a vision for a more affordable, relaxed and friendly festival has proven to be a great success, such bands as Art Brut and Inme have played in previous years.

THOMAS HIGGS

This year hosts some of the bands of the moment, hard rockers Fightstar headline Friday the 17th, and British Sea Power on the 18th.

There is a conscious awareness of the effects big commercial festivals have on the environment at 2000 Tress, and organisers are attempted to limit environmental damage to a minimum, from power being supplied from locally sourced bio-diesel, to biodegradable food and drink containers.

Set in the beautiful Cheltenham countryside, 2000 Trees is making a name for itself as a new kind of festival, one which has adapted to a growing acknowledgement of

the negative aspects of commercially driven events.

This year is going to be a great weekend full of well established bands, newcomers and raw talent. Coupled with its surroundings, 2000 Trees is unique for its insight into music being the most important aspect of the festival.

In the words of the organisers, “Just great bands in a chilled out, affordable and inspiring environment”. Could we ask for anything more?
