Ok, so first off I must iterate the fact that this particular run down is in no particular order, nor is it a definitive list of the best British record labels of all time (as if such a breakdown could ever be truly quantified). French Horn Rebellion are an extremely up-beat, electro-pop duo from the United States. Since debut E.P "Up All Night" has been released with a hectic touring schedule currently underway, the pair show no signs of slowing down from here. Armed with an interesting, instantly recognisable name and a good package of songs things must surely be on the rise for the band, and their mix of "Garage/Electro/Samba" should send fan numbers soaring. If you haven't heard anything yet from these Americans, you shouldn't have to wait too long, and you won't forget them in a hurry either.

FRENCH HORN REBELLION
CALUM MACNAB
French Horn Rebellion Interview

With their Myspace making bold statements including (under the "Sounds Like" section) "When a giant French horn breaks apart into a million pieces and collectively reorganizes itself in the 5th spatial dimensional realm" you have to wonder what the duo strive for and how they'd go about achieving such feats. Is it a new sound they want? Something that would revolutionize the music we know today? "God help us, if we can find a new sound. I love new sounds. I love sounds I've never heard before and/or sounds that remind

me of something from a very emotional/nostalgic place . . . or sounds that make me laugh . . . and/or sounds that make me cry."

And where on Earth did they come up with that band name? "...I wanted to be a professional French horn player...[but after periods of making music without instruments] I became the very thing I despised." So once these important questions have been answered by the guys themselves, we can begin to really look at the French Horn Rebellion's career. Robert and David (the two guys in the band) are also known for their work with recent hit-makers MGMT, helping with their "Time to Pretend" E.P, with many other artists (including people from Andrew Lloyd Weber to Jack White, ABBA to the Vengaboys) on their wish-list. It's refreshing to see such an optimistic band who have the work rate to prove it, touring from Bristol to New York to Paris in one month alone and claiming that "...the tour will never be over".

Despite being on the verge of huge success, the band are clear to point out that the music will always be for the enjoyment of making it and for the fans, and they fully understand they can't please everyone "I tried that in high school . . . it just leads to depression and a lot of wasted time.".

With career highlights of "playing to 1000 plus people in Sao Paulo Brazil", a focused, professional outlook and the huge commitment all going at once it's actually amazing to think that French Horn Rebellion aren't flooding the airwaves at this very moment. However, it won't be a long wait before it happens, trust me, and when it does you'll understand instantly.
